The Corner Canyon Tournament of Champions was held this past weekend at Corner Canyon High School. The field had some serious talent and included eight schools which were Corner Canyon, Lehi, Syracuse, Snow Canyon, Bountiful, Riverton, Highland, and Pleasant Grove. Corner Canyon ended up 3-0 and taking the tournament championship over Bountiful High School. Here are our All-Tournament Teams:
First Team
Gabe Toombs 6'4 W/F 2019 (Corner Canyon) had a very strong tournament as he led his team in scoring with over 13 points per game. Toombs is built like a defensive end and is able to bully defenders to the rim where is he is a great finisher.
Brig Willard 6'3 G 2019 (Bountiful) averaged over 17 points per game including impressive wins over Lehi and Top 5 Pleasant Grove. He is a natural scorer and is a tough cover for any opponent.
Ammon Jensen 6'0 G 2018 (Corner Canyon) averaged nearly 12 points per game as his team went 3-0 in the tournament. Jensen is a very good shooter and is always making the right play for his team.
Matt Van Komen 7'3 C 2019 (Pleasant Grove) averaged nearly 22 points per game during the three game tournament. With Van Komen's size and skill he is essential impossible to stop.
Brock Gilbert 5'8 G 2018 (Syracuse) averaged nearly 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists per game. the undersize guard was as dominate as anyone I saw. He can shoot it from well beyond the three point line and has a very high basketball IQ.
Second Team
Cam Chism 6'1 G 2020 (Bountiful) averaged nearly 12 points per game including 11 made three pointers. Chism is one of the best shooters in the state and has NBA type range.
Dallin Spencer 6'6 F 2018 (Lehi) averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds per game. He was very good at pinning his defenders behind him and getting easy buckets in the paint. I think he is poised for a very big year.
Braden Baker 6'3 G 2018 (Snow Canyon) averaged nearly 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals per game. He is an athletic guard that can shoot it from deep and is also good in transition and finishing above the rim.
Christian Rich 6'3 G 2019 (Highland) was absolutely deadly from the three during the tournament. In the two games that had stats recorded he averaged 18 points per game with ten made threes.
Richie Saunders 6'4 G 2020 (Riverton) averaged 14 points per game for Riverton as they went 1-2 in the tournament. He has a knack for scoring and did most of his from the mid-range or getting to the rim.
