Halloween Shootout (Notes)

The Halloween Shootout was a great event held at Summit Academy High School featuring two Las Vegas high schools and some top notch Utah schools. We are going to be writing about some of the top players we saw at the Saturday morning session.

2018 6'3 G Truman Brown (Layton) was very impressive as he was able to score on his catch and shoot jumpers. I like he can come off a sprint to a catch and shoot and elevate over the defenders to get his shot off. Truman was also able to get to the hoop and score in the game I watched. He is a high level NAIA/D2 prospect.
2019 6'9 C Collin Jeppson (Layton) the big fella has drastically improved from last year where he was mostly a JV player during the high school season. He was able to knock down two three pointers in the game I saw and was able to move up and down well. Jeppson is in the best shape of his life and is showing. He was also able to finish in the paint and has nice touch. Jeppson is a very good D2 prospect and if he can improve his feet he could sneak into a low D1.
2019 6'2 G Trey Stewart (American Fork) was very impressive on Saturday and showed his ability to be a point guard. Stewart was able to run the team and get teammates involved but also knew when to impose his will. He knocked down three pointers and has a few nice bursts to the hoop where he can finish above the rim. I see him as a Big Sky/Big West level prospect.
2019 6'4 G Matt Norman (Timpanogos) is very similar to Brown from Layton but with a little more upside. He has deep range and knocked down shots from deep and the mid-range. Norman has improved his handle as he looked more comfortable handling the ball and getting to the hoop. I think he could have a huge junior season after a very good sophomore campaign.
